Africa’s oldest hunter-gatherers, the San Bushmen lived in the Drakensberg mountains for 4 000 years until they were driven out in the 19th Century by the arrival of colonists.  These paintings “represent the spiritual life of the San people” and the outstanding quality of these paintings led UNESCO to declare them a world heritage site in 2000.
