EBSCO EBOOKS : General Guidelines when using EBSCO eBooks

Home - EBSCO eBooks - LibGuides at Ebsco

Access EBSCO eBooks that have been purchased for Rhodes.

Online use of EBSCO eBooks is on a first come first served basis and the title can only be used while the existing EBSCO session is open.

During this session, the user can print, email, save or download chapters of the eBook title for later use and as soon as the session is closed, the next user can access the book.

If the user has the eBook open and has been inactive for 15 minutes, the session will time out and the book will be available to the next person.

If we have a one user license, for example, and this eBook is in use, the next student will have the opportunity to place a hold on an eBook. They will be required to sign into their personal My EBSCO folder account (if not already signed in) in order to Place a Hold. Once the eBook has been successfully placed on hold and it is available, the student will be notified via the e-mail address associated with their account. The student will have an hour to access the eBook that was placed on hold and should they not be able to access the eBook in an hour, it will be made available to the next student. The students are limited to 10 holds, one hold per eBook.

Refer to this link for further information on how to create a My EBSCO folder.

Restrictions vary: Titles have either a 1 user license, 3 user license or unlimited user license or we might have bought 2 copies with a 1 or 3 user license.

DRM restrictions (ie. how many pages can be downloaded/printed/copied etc) and User access details can be found on EBSCO, as you access a specific eBook title.
