He resented Mozart for both his lifestyle and his undeniable talent and became obsessed with Mozart's downfall, leading to a devious scheme that had dire consequences for both men.

Based on a true story, Amistad chronicles the story of a group of enslaved Africans who overcome their captors and attempt to return to their homeland.  When the ship is seized, the captive Africans are brought to trial in the United States. This is the story of that courtroom battle.
